Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 16, 2026

Our commitment

KakuroZen is committed to making our website and app accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we do

  • Color contrast: All text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background, exceeding WCAG AA requirements. Our brand colors (emerald #047857 and teal #0D9488) were chosen specifically for high contrast on white backgrounds.
  • Keyboard navigation: Every interactive element on this website can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible on all focusable elements.
  • Skip navigation:A “Skip to main content” link appears at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users.
  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, ARIA labels, and descriptive link text throughout the site.
  • Responsive design: The site works on all screen sizes from mobile phones to large desktop monitors. Text can be zoomed up to 200 percent without loss of content or functionality.
  • Reduced motion:Animations and transitions are disabled for users who have enabled the “prefers reduced motion” setting in their operating system.
  • Form labels: All form inputs have visible labels or accessible names. Error messages are descriptive and helpful.
  • Alt text: All images have descriptive alt text. Decorative icons are marked as aria-hidden to avoid screen reader clutter.
  • Touch targets: All tappable elements meet a minimum size of 44x44 pixels for comfortable use on touch devices.
  • Large print option: Our Large Print puzzle book is designed for people who need bigger numbers and wider grid cells.

Known limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, there may be areas where we fall short. The interactive puzzle grid in the app may be challenging for screen reader users due to the spatial nature of the puzzle. We are actively working on improving the screen reader experience for puzzle solving.

Standards

This website is built to conform with:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • ADA Title III (as applied to websites)

Testing

We test accessibility using:

  • Automated scanning tools (axe, Lighthouse)
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing (VoiceOver, NVDA)
  • Color contrast checking tools
